Course description

Examine the professional role of an Early Childhood Educator. You will explore intercultural practice and acknowledge others’ lived experiences and ways of knowing as they relate to working with teams. You will also be provided with support for improving vocabulary, oral communication, and writing skills to strengthen English as an Additional Language learner competence and confidence.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • describe the image of an Early Childhood Educator in Alberta. 
  • discuss the importance of intercultural practice as an Early Childhood Educator. 
  • describe what it means to be a trauma-aware educator. 
  • develop a professional learning plan. 
  • identify resources necessary to plan a pathway for entry into post-secondary programs in early learning and child care.
