Course description

Explore how to use observation and play space to create responsive environments and activities to support children’s learning, individual needs, and a sense of belonging. You will also be provided with support for improving vocabulary, oral communication, and writing skills to strengthen English as an Additional Language learner competence and confidence.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • utilize observation and listening strategies to co-create responsive environments and supportive learning activities with children. 
  • record observations of children's play using various documentation tools. 
  • explain how play supports children's learning and development. 
  • plan meaningful activities and indoor/outdoor or natural spaces for play and learning based on the child's dispositions to learn as well as their needs and curiosities.
