Course description

Examine the importance of relationships within the early childhood educator role. You will explore children’s connection to their family, community, culture, and nature, and learn how to foster and nurture these relationships. You will also be provided with support for improving vocabulary, oral communication, and writing skills to strengthen English as an Additional Language learner competence and confidence.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • discuss how differences in culture and values impact the role of an Early Childhood Educator. 
  • identify strategies to support developing relationships with children and caregivers. 
  • describe the benefits of nurturing children's relationship with the land and nature.  
  • describe the role of community in supporting children's growth and development.
