VENS WBENS - MRU Wind Ensemble
Course description
The Mount Royal Conservatory Wind Ensemble is comprised of woodwinds, brass, and percussion students from across Calgary and surrounding communities. Students in grades 9-12 engage in a dynamic performance setting, including challenging repertoire, extensive instrument coaching, and several prestigious performance opportunities throughout the year. Designed to be complimentary and supportive of students within their school music programs, the MRU Wind Ensemble will provide excellent enrichment and growth opportunities for enthusiastic students.

Auditions & Open Rehearsal Information
Auditions for the 2026-2027 season are now open!
Auditions for the 2026 - 2027 season will take place in-person and virtually. Auditions are required for all applicants, both NEW and RETURNING. Acceptance into the ensemble is based on your audition. The final decisions will be made by the ensemble director, Jay Michalak. Please ensure that you select repertoire and a scale which showcases your capabilities and current level. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
All applicants must fill out the MRU Wind Ensemble Audition Form and select a live audition time or submit a pre- recorded video audition as outlined in the audition requirements linked below. Auditions will take place in June 2026. Please make sure to read all the information carefully and be sure you are aware of the audition requirements.
