Course description

Discover the physiological effects, contraindications, and limitations of each hydrotherapy application.  Gain a foundational  knowledge of and apply the various heat, cold, contrast and varied paraffin applications that help increase blood flow, tissue pliability and relaxation. Learn how to direct your client with appropriate home care treatments that may prolong the benefits of their physical treatments. Standards of practice for set up, take down and clean up are also demonstrated in a supervised practical setting

•   Before your course begins, ensure your MyMRU account is activated. Step-by-step instructions for account activation can be found here. Once you have activated your account and have your MyMRU login information, you can log into your MRU Google account using your @mtroyal.ca email address and set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). •   On the first day of class bring the following:

  • 2 twin bed sheets,
  • 2 hand towels,
  • 2 bath towels,
  • pillow,
  • 2 pillowcases,
  • robe,
  • slippers,
  • soap,
  • water shoes or flipflops,
  • small amount of  vegetable oil such as canola or olive oil (bring in a plastic container with flip top lid, if possible). 

•  Wear comfortable loose fitting clothing such as a jogging suit or shorts and a t-shirt.

•  You have one (1) hour for lunch. It is advised to bring your lunch.
