Course description

Gain an understanding of the expertise required to produce an event, including sound, lighting, special effects, audiovisual and more. Differentiate between an event timeline, a production schedule and production scripts. Acquire an understanding of common terminology and learn to assess technical requirements in order to have meaningful negotiations, discussions and event execution with vendors.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • develop production schedules to ensure seamless event execution.
  • develop a professional production script including all technical, program, and hospitality elements.
  • discuss how to communicate effectively with event stakeholders and suppliers to ensure flawless event execution.
  • discuss how creative, goal-driven elements--such as speakers and entertainment--can be integrated into event design.
  • evaluate emerging trends and technologies in event production.
  • describe how to lead and support the event production team to ensure coordinated delivery of the event.
