Course description

Identify key factors that influence the planning, design, and execution of an event. Understand how the goals of an event and needs of stakeholders provide the basis for ongoing decision-making and successful management of the event. Recognize your leadership skills to ensure all components of an event come together successfully.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • explain how professionalism and ethical practices can be practiced in all 5 phases of event planning.
  • determine client needs and event goals through the research phase of event management.
  • apply strategies to manage vendor relationships through effective negotiation and contract development.
  • demonstrate financial management skills for event planning, focusing on budgeting, revenue, expenses, and financial oversight.
  • outline effective leadership and management strategies for coordinating event teams.
