Course description

Develop an understanding of the ethical, legal and regulatory issues surrounding cybersecurity as you learn about security principles, network fundamentals and how to apply these areas to design networks and policies for security and compliance.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • apply the concepts of risk management.
  • identify and logically evaluate when risks need to be mitigated, avoided, accepted or transferred. 
  • differentiate between quantitative and qualitative risk assessment. 
  • apply the principles of security governance.
  • assess the ingredients of a complete and effective security program and information security organizational structure, including roles and responsibilities. 
  • interpret security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines, business continuity, personnel security and security awareness and training. 
  • discuss the ethical considerations of information security management.

Notes

Students must enrol in all three courses in the Cyber Security Fundamentals program at the same time.
