Course description

Examine the information security knowledge framework through the eight CISSP domains to gain the fundamental information you require for working on information security projects and earning the CISSP designation.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • explain the importance of cyber security in today's changing threat landscape. 
  • describe the activities conducted as part of a security function within an organization. 
  • apply security principles in practical day-to-day work activities along the different domains of the (ISC)² CISSP CBK.
  • apply best practices in cyber security.
  • communicate effectively using cyber security terminolog. 
  • analyze and evaluate the various methods suspicious entities leverage to steal data, including, but not limited to social engineering, phishing, man-in-the-middle, fraud, spam, and malware.

Notes

Students must enrol in all three courses in the Cyber Security Fundamentals program at the same time.

Course information & Moodle instructions will be available on the MRU D2L Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) one week prior to the start date of your course.  You must be logged in to your MRU Gmail account to access D2L Brightspace. Your instructor contact info & Moodle access will be made available on/or up to 3 days before the course start date.
