Course description

Ensemble Conducting Practicum provides students with the opportunity to work alongside one of our orchestra or choral conductors to gain practical experience in the art of conducting. Through Ensemble Conducting Practicum studies students develop key skills related to ensemble conducting, artistic interpretation and execution, communication through gesture, leadership, musicianship and performance acumen. Aspiring conductors learn to work collaboratively with a large group of people to realize and express the intentions of the composer and the music through careful, thoughtful interpretations and preparation of a given piece of music.
