Course description

Explore process modeling from the perspective of a business analyst. You will model and analyze an existing business process and design an improved process using approaches and tools, including process maps, process decomposition, SIPOC diagrams, Voice of Customer (VoC) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Recognize how to help businesses understand what they do, why they are doing it and identify how to make improvements.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Implement business process mapping and modeling concepts 
  • Apply a variety of process analysis methods to understand customer and process requirements, including the current state, desired state and opportunities for improvement 
  • Use process design concepts to develop an improved business process 
  • Describe the value of root cause analysis (RCA) and its role in the continuous improvement (CI) lifecycle
