Course description

Discover the key components and processes of effective contract management from the initial stages to the final close out process. Explore the key steps involved in negotiating and awarding contracts, the vital activities needed to support contract development and execution and the regulatory and environmental factors affecting contracts in today’s supply chains.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • describe the component parts of processes for contract administration and management. 
  • examine various types of contracts, their appropriate application and how to avoid introducing uncertainty in their formation and execution.  
  • use competitive bidding activities and best practices. 
  • identify how to successfully prepare for supplier contract negotiations. 
  • describe the implications of the United Nations Convention for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) on supply chains in Canada. 
  • prepare compliant RFI, RFQ, RFP and know when to use each.  
  • develop contract terms to protect against Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) uncertainty.
