Course description
Discover the information technology systems, components and requirements for the successful execution of all supply chain functions. Explore how IT infrastructure, globalization and digitization, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Software as a Service (SaaS), e-commerce, e-procurement, electronic data interchange (EDI), radio frequency identification (RFID), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cryptocurrency, blockchain, the internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, data analytics, predictive analysis, the omnichannel marketplace and cybersecurity impact supply chain performance and efficiency.Learner outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
- use technology, e-procurement and e-commerce to enhance an organization's supply chain business processes.
- assess the cost of supply chain processes to determine whether Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a strategic fit for an organization. understand where ERP and analytical applications fit in terms of strategic, tactical and operational level activities or functions.
- determine whether Software as a Service (SaaS) or an ERP system upgrade is necessary to perform required function(s).
- identify the most common software vendors providing supply chain IT systems and applications
- understand how the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cryptocurrency, blockchain, cloud computing, data analytics and predictive analysis ensure that supply chain management can support an organization in the current and future digital global marketplace.
- assess the ability of an organization to source and purchase materials and/or services using the internet and e-procurement applications.
- identify the steps in setting up e-procurement within a business.
- discuss how to streamline and automate an organization's supply chain processes from an IT perspective.
- establish a checklist of questions to ask when implementing an e-procurement solution.
- identify Extensible Markup Language (XML) and electronic data interchange (EDI).
- understand what cybersecurity is, why it is important, what steps need to be taken to implement it, and what needs to be done to ensure continued systems integrity.
