Course description

Acquire a comprehensive overview of procurement and inventory strategies and practices. Discover ways to maximize your organization's operations and revenues by examining purchasing goals, supplier selection, pricing, legalities and factors affecting quantity and delivery decisions.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand and use appropriate vocabulary and concepts specific to procurement
  • Describe and discuss the major components of procurement
  • Describe and implement procurement strategies (purchasing, inventory, warehouse and purchasing)
  • Facilitate customer requirements and supplier selection effectively
  • Recognize the importance of the tendering process (RFP's, RFQ's, and RFI's) and know when and how to be applied
  • Synthesize course content to solve questions that require combining concepts, techniques and assumptions
  • Demonstrate commitment to group effectiveness as expressed by: team building, open and honest communication, personal accountability for the group's success, and a willingness to work towards a common goal or purpose by learning from, and sharing with, the group members
