Course description

Explore children’s mental health from the perspective of larger legislation systems – the youth criminal justice and child and family protective systems. You will examine the different practices and system policies.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • analyze the youth criminal justice legislation and the impact on children, adolescents, and families.
  • analyze the child protection legislation and its impact on children, adolescents, and families.
  • describe the impact of culture on youth justice and child welfare outcomes.
  • identify relevant educational programs and community resources for children and families.
