Course description

Discuss the concept of resiliency and why it is so important in working with children and adolescents. You will examine risk and protective factors to inform strategies to build resiliency in children, families, and communities to positively affect children and adolescent mental health. 

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • discuss the basic concept of resiliency.  
  • describe risk factors and their impact on children and youth.  
  • explain how protective factors ameliorate risk of adverse outcomes in children and youth.  
  • develop strategies to assist children, families and communities to minimize risk and become resilient.
