Course description

Examine non-profit financial management including the accounting cycle, budgeting process and financial management tools. Use case studies to examine the financial relationship between non-profit organizations and government.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • identify the reporting tools required by nonprofit staff and boards.
  • examine and evaluate financial management information that impacts the day to day operations of a nonprofit organization.
  • prepare a nonprofit budget and explore budget management strategies.
  • recognize the relationship between nonprofit organizations and the three levels of government (municipal, provincial, and federal.
