Course description

Try new things. Learn about activities and facilities around Calgary as you develop new friendships and strengthen ones you have made in the Transitional Vocational Program. You will meet with a facilitator to plan and carry out a group activity using Google Meet or out in the community, while improving your communication and teamwork skills.

Course outline

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • exhibit the skills necessary to maintain existing relationships and develop entirely new relationships.  
  • have experienced a variety of recreation/leisure/community based activities.  
  • have a greater awareness of community events and resources.  
  • demonstrate improved decision-making skills within a group.  
  • be able to effectively participate in activity planning.  
  • demonstrate applied problem solving/conflict resolution shills.  
  • have an opportunity to develop evaluation skills.  
  • demonstrate greater leadership skills and peer support skills. 
  • demonstrate improved communication skills.

Prerequisites

Students who are new to TVP Part Time classes must speak with the program team before registering.
