Course description

This course will teach you the basic principles of graphic design. You will use computer-based graphic design tools and programs. You will create many projects, which could include charts, newsletters, brochures and websites.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • describe the basic principles of graphic design (typography, colour, images, hierarchy and shapes).
  • describe the use of proximity, repetition, contrast and hierarchy in design.
  • explain layout and composition in design.
  • explain visual identity and branding in design.
