Course description

Further explore self-identity and build self-confidence. Participate in individual exercises and group activities designed to develop and practice interaction with others. Use role play to develop and practice new skills in five areas; self, family, community, leisure and job.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • practice the skills necessary to give and receive feedback appropriately.
  • develop problem solving behaviors.
  • explore harmful and helpful personal and group behaviors and modify unsuccessful behaviors.
  • develop an understanding of assumptions and adopt strategies to avoid making and acting on faulty, negative based harmful assumptions.
  • understand the reaction of anger and implement strategies for successful conflict resolution.
  • differentiate passive, aggressive and assertive behavior.
  • explore different ways of looking at situations and practice creative ways to demonstrate balanced self-determination.
