Course description

This tutorial is a small work group held on a weekly basis from September to December. It is designed to facilitate and highlight student successes. A work integrated learning journal is a tool used by students to reflect upon learning that is occurring on a weekly basis at the work integrated learning site. Students have the opportunity to obtain feedback from their peers and staff on how to handle employment situations and apply problem solving skills.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • develop, integrate and apply skills from the classroom to work integrated learning, enabling them to obtain and maintain competitive employment. 
  • solicit the assistance of their peers and staff members to identify proactive solutions to effectively and efficiently resolve employment issues enabling them to retain employment.
  • assist peers in small group tutorials to identify solutions and strategies that can be utilized in the workplace. 
  • reflect on their learning through the use of verbal and written exercises in tutorial that foster success and identify areas that need improvement.
  • complete exercises that will highlight successes and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
