Course description

Develop and apply your grammar and writing skills as you craft commonly used public relations materials. Explore and practice developing materials such as news releases, public service announcements, web communication and more.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • review and improve public relations writing and editing skills.
  • review English grammar and usage.
  • describe the principles of writing and editing for public relations and communication management.
  • list characteristics of persuasive writing. 
  • identify Canadian Press (CP) style and apply it to writing for public relations and communication management.
  • demonstrate editing and proofreading skills.
  • apply writing skills to frequently used public relations tools and channels including advertising, web design, video, and social media.
  • produce public relations and communication materials through assigned projects.

•   This course is synchronous and conducted in a virtual classroom. Requirements: laptop/desktop computer, stable Internet connection, camera, microphone.
