Course description

The Calgary Piano Institute at MRU Conservatory offers an exciting and immersive one-week piano program for students ages 7+ looking to develop and improve their musicianship skills.

With engaging activities such as assigned and assisted goal setting, individual practice time, technique classes, masterclasses, and chamber rehearsal and coaching, students will be fully immersed in a wide variety of musical experiences. The program is designed to inspire and motivate students while providing support and guidance to help them grow as young artists.

The program culminates in a final Grand Recital, which is open to the public free of charge. All students will participate in daily masterclasses and have at least 2 private lessons during the week. The program is divided into different levels based on the student's RCM grade level, with level-specific experiences such as music appreciation, duet practice, and instruction, harpsichord and organ performance classes, and more.

The Calgary Piano Institute is led by Marianne Bleile, founder and, artistic coordinator along with other experienced instructors who will help students reach their full potential.

New features for this year's program include lowered parking rates and free after-camp care from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Don't miss this opportunity to develop your piano skills and reach your full potential!

They will also have the opportunity to perform, whether it's in front of the class or recital setting.

Junior Level: Students at the junior level will continue to develop their reading skills, listening skills, and historical knowledge through daily musicianship classes. They will also receive private lessons and masterclasses. In addition to piano instruction, they will be introduced to the harpsichord and organ. Daily duet practice and instruction will also be part of their daily routine, and their practice sessions will be supervised by the program's tutor.

Intermediate Level: Students at the intermediate level will continue to practice daily duet or two-piano instruction and practice. They will also have the opportunity to perform on the harpsichord and organ. Their practice sessions will continue to be supervised by the program's tutor, and they will receive private lessons and masterclasses.

Senior Level: At the senior level, students will have extended lesson times and piano technique classes. They will also participate in daily duet or two-piano practice and instruction. Additionally, they will have an intermediate harpsichord and organ performance class.
