Course description

A week of guitar immersion guaranteed to excite and inspire! 
Featuring master classes and performance workshops for classical guitar students ages 13+ with a minimum playing level of RCM 4 or the approval of the director. The GuitarFest West program focuses on developing solo performance skills through private lessons and masterclasses, while enhancing musicianship through large ensemble rehearsals. 
Technique classes and rehearsals run for three hours each morning, and afternoons and evenings are filled with faculty recitals and lectures, student performance workshops and masterclasses. Students receive three private lessons or masterclasses with one or more faculty members and the week caps off with a student recital featuring solo and ensemble performances.
In addition, GuitarFest 2024 is holding a competition for guitarists of all ages (international participants welcome).  First prize includes $1000 and a concert at GFW, second prize is $500, and third prize is $250.  a

All concerts will be held in the TransAlta Pavilion in the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts (ED2102)
