Course description

Explore the fundamentals of editing, including why editing matters, and how editing skills can be developed and refined for writing in business. Delve into different kinds of editing and the skills and standards required to edit different materials. Through presentations, readings, assignments and practice, gain an appreciation for what it takes to successfully edit important documents.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Define core editing skills needed to become successful in business writing. 
  • Describe how to maintain a harmonious and collaborative work/editor relationship. 
  • Identify resources, career paths and opportunities for business professionals needing to edit.

•   This is an online, asynchronous course; it is not an independent study course. There are set due dates for graded and non-graded assessments and students are required to actively participate throughout the course via discussion and other activities.
