Course description

Explore a wide range of window treatments to understand how function and aesthetics work together to enhance interior environments. Through hands-on activities, you will examine fabric options, calculate the material required for various window coverings, and develop detailed window elevations. You will also investigate surface materials, treatments, and finishes, applying this knowledge to select the most appropriate solutions that support both client needs and overall design intent.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • create a dimensioned window elevation to scale.
  • critique a window treatment based on function and aesthetic.
  • determine fabric requirements for various types of window treatments.
  • choose effective window treatments for a design solution.
  • analyze surface materials, treatments, and finishes.
  • develop a design solution using surface finishes.

Prerequisites

XIDA 10100 - Decorating Fundamentals with a minimum grade of C- 

(OR  XIDA 10001 - Introduction to Interior Decorating 1 C-   AND  XIDA  10030 - Introduction to Interior Decorating 2 C-)
