Course description

Explore how colour and light work together as two of the most powerful and expressive elements in creating effective interior design. You will apply concepts of colour theory, composition, and both the quality and quantity of light through hands-on activities.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • summarize the key principles of colour psychology and how colour influences mood, perception, and design choices.
  • use colour theory to illustrate related and contrasting colour schemes.
  • design colour schemes for the fabrics and finishes of a given space.
  • determine the quality of lighting required in a space.
  • calculate the quantity of lighting required in a space.

Prerequisites

XIDA 10100 - Decorating Fundamentals with a minimum grade of C- 

(OR  XIDA 10001 - Introduction to Interior Decorating 1 C-   AND  XIDA  10030 - Introduction to Interior Decorating 2 C-)
