Course description

Create the atmosphere your client envisions by applying design principles and elements effectively. You’ll be guided through the process of developing a complete design solution for an interior space, including rendered drawings, elevations, colour schemes, and a professional client presentation.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • illustrate the design principles and design elements in real-world scenarios.
  • create a client profile based on information gathered during a client interview.
  • prepare a floorplan to scale.
  • create a visually appealing colour scheme that complements a design solution.
  • prepare interior elevations to scale that represent architectural features and furniture within a space.
  • create a visual presentation illustrating a proposed design solution for a client.

  • Required Supplies:
  •  1/4 " graph paper
  •  HB Pencil
  •  fine tip permanent, black marker
  •  architect scale ruler (3 sided), imperial measure only, NOT METRIC.
  •  white drafting eraser or zero erase pen - round
  •  minimum 12" metal ruler
  •  25 foot metal tape measure
  •  pencil crayons or colour markers (professional grade is better, but use whatever you have if you already have something)
  •  access to fabric and paint samples
