Course description

Explore instructional design principles, characteristics of adult learners and their implications in designing an effective instructional program. You will apply information about learning styles to the design of instructional learning outcomes and write clear, concise performance outcomes in order to direct instructional design.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • explain what curriculum development and instructional design are and how they relate to each other.
  • describe the principles of learning and the implications for instructional design.
  • describe common learning models and the implications for instructional design.
  • write effective learning outcomes statements.
  • review and evaluate the strength of learning outcome statements.   
  • explain how the ADDIE Model can be effectively applied to instructional design.
