Course description

Theatre Arts and Technique classes present vocal students with an opportunity to develop and improve their theatre, body awareness and movement abilities. Confidence, vocabulary and comprehension develop as students engage in the performance of literature, create and present individual/group performance pieces, and explore creative drama. Students set individual achievement goals and enjoy the dynamic atmosphere of group instruction. The class will give students an opportunity to perform in front of their peers, designated Academy faculty and world-renowned guest artists. Students also listen to their colleagues perform and benefit from further developing their listening and analytical skills. Techniques including body mapping and awareness, improvisation, text analysis and presentation will provide students with the fundamental knowledge necessary to develop their stage presence. Students will be able to use and apply all skills learned in the Theatre Arts and Techniques class directly into their ensemble scenes.
