Course description

Examine the legal landscape in Alberta and Canada. Understand how legal obligations are created, maintained and enforced in business relationships, as well as how they form an effective component of risk management.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • understand the principles that define the Canadian legal system.
  • explain the functions that law serves in business relationships.
  • gain knowledge of the judicial process.
  • apply the rules of common law.
  • describe the principles of statutory interpretation.
