XSCM 20009 - Transportation and Global Supply
Course description
Explore various modes of transportation including intermodal, air, rail and sea. Discuss the roles of 3PL, freight forwarders, customs brokers and expedited delivery as well as the documentation and key components relevant to cargo. Define important FOB terms and INCO terms, identify insurance considerations and recognize tariffs and security issues in relation to a transportation department's roles and responsibilities.Learner outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
- discuss the various modes of global transportation.
- identify key attributes of road, rail, sea, air, pipeline and intermodal transport.
- examine the various types of carriers and service options.
- discuss the economics of transportation.
- outline the importance of transportation on global supply chains.
- discuss the management of off-shore suppliers.
