Course description

Discover core warehouse functions, materials handling equipment options, performance metrics, industry trends, and technology advances that are changing warehouse design. You will calculate inventory performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), determine replenishment order quantities, and manage inventory budgeting. Finally, you will examine different inventory types, required activities, and the formal governance needed for successful inventory performance and strategy execution.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • define what inventory is and why it is an important component of supply chain management.
  • examine different forms of inventory and be able to define them.
  • analyze inventory management performance using key performance indicators and reporting.
  • assess common inventory management activities, processes and functions and supporting technology systems.
  • use the most common inventory re-ordering methods.
  • identify, define and describe functions internal to a warehouse operation.
  • explore warehouse function interdependencies and relationships.
  • identify competitive and strategic supply chain roles in warehouse operations.
  • examine the impact of new technology on modern warehouse design and operations. 
  • apply theory and concepts to produce a working warehouse facility design.
