Course description
Examine children’s mental health from the perspective of larger systems – the mental health and education systems and their associated best practices. Explore the different types and levels of services as well as your role in building capacity in families.Learner outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
- explain how the mental health system works with children, adolescents and their families.
- discuss the impact of children's mental health on families (children, parents and siblings) and the human service professional's role in building capacity.
- describe how the education system responds to child and adolescent mental health issues.
- determine educational programs and community resources that support children, adolescents, and their families.
