Course description

Explore children’s mental health from the perspective of larger legislation systems – the youth criminal justice and child and family protective systems. Examine the different practices and system policies.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • analyze the youth criminal justice legislation and the impact on children, adolescents, and families.
  • analyze the child protection legislation and its impact on children, adolescents, and families.
  • describe the impact of culture on youth justice and child welfare outcomes.
  • identify relevant educational programs and community resources for children and families.
