Course description

Examine the contributions of volunteers to charities and Canada's economy. You will learn how to manage this valuable resource effectively by planning an appropriate volunteer program, motivating volunteers, providing meaningful volunteer job development, and recruiting, selecting and training volunteers.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • explain the need for and use of volunteers.
  • describe the dimensions of the issues affecting volunteerism today.
  • apply a volunteer management process.
  • evaluate volunteer management systems in existing volunteer agencies.
