Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • discuss the role of good governance in the decision process – making, executing, and being accountable for decisions.
  • explain how good governance is beyond form, procedure, process, and rules for board meetings.
  • discuss the key components of effective leadership in nonprofit board governance, including roles, responsibilities, obligations, and duties of board members.
  • explain the various relational dynamics of good governance, namely chair–board, chair–chief executive officer (CEO) or executive director (ED), and board–stakeholders (both internal and external to the organization).

•   This is an online, asynchronous course; it is not an independent study course. There are set due dates for graded and non-graded assessments and students are required to actively participate throughout the course via discussion and other activities.
