Course description

Examine the fundamentals of strategic management and explore various approaches to strategic planning. Analyze the impact of your organization's mission and vision when developing and meeting long-term objectives. Gain an understanding of the role of organizational leadership, culture, complexity and mobilizing resources for change.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • recognize and understand the vocabulary used in strategic management in the nonprofit sector. 
  • reflect on the work done by major thinkers in the field. 
  • differentiate how the role of mission differs from other sectors and its centrality to nonprofit organizations. 
  • adopt a point of view on how to diagnose and assess the strategic issues facing an organization.
