Course description

Examine the fundamentals of strategic management and explore various approaches to strategic planning. Analyze the impact of your organization's mission and vision when developing and meeting long-term objectives. You will gain an understanding of the role of organizational leadership, culture, complexity, and mobilizing resources for change.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • recognize the vocabulary used in strategic management in the nonprofit sector. 
  • discuss the work done by major thinkers in the field. 
  • differentiate how the role of mission differs from other sectors and its centrality to nonprofit organizations. 
  • formulate a perspective on how to diagnose and assess the strategic issues facing an organization.
