Explore the discipline of technical writing and enhance your writing techniques to meet the demands of today's marketplace. Study the concepts involved in the creation of clear, concise, correct and cohesive communications, including writing with purpose, audience analysis and document organization.Learner outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
- explain the purpose of a technical document.
- construct an effective purpose statement.
- describe common audience traits.
- construct an effective audience analysis.
- list forms of documentation.
- distinguish between various organizational strategies.
- apply cohesive headings to an outline structure.
- discover and describe the importance of writing cohesively, correctly, and clearly.
- construct a template to apply to a technical document.
- demonstrate ability to apply information from MS Word to a basic document.
- apply concepts learned and practiced throughout the course to a final portfolio piece.
