Course description
Academy students are assigned to chamber ensembles made up of students with comparable skills and abilities. Students work together to rehearse and perform repertoire selected to suit their musicianship level and ensemble make up. Through chamber ensemble instruction, students develop key skills related to small ensemble performance; how to interpret and come to a consensus regarding the realization of a work, how to collaboratively express artistic ideas and how to engage as an ensemble to realize the intentions of the composer.Learner outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
- Through collaboration and exploration, achieve a polished performance that synthesizes all skills learned and developed.
- Exercise enhanced performance acumen and adaptability.
- Project confidence on stage through the development and expression of clearly cultivated rehearsal etiquette and stage presence.
- Articulate and implement clear ideas related to a given piece of music, working collaboratively to evaluate the stylistic elements and expressive possibilities available to an ensemble.
- Implement successful chamber music performances which synthesize and demonstrate the accomplishments and skills gained.
- Possess a greater understanding of the rigor required to perform as a professional.
- Become well-rounded individuals, sensitive to expectations of being a modern musician
