Course description

Vocal Arts and Technique classes provide students with a foundational understanding of the voice and the body mechanics at play when singing. Students are provided opportunities to perform in front of their peers, designated Academy faculty and world-renowned guest artists to further advance critical knowledge and understanding. Students also listen to their colleagues perform and benefit from further developing their listening and analytical skills. Significant time is also spent working on lyric diction to provide students with the fundamental knowledge necessary for the performance of vocal art song, opera, and musical theatre in the core languages of Italian, German, French, Spanish, and English. Students will also develop a working knowledge of IPA allowing them to confidently approach the performances of musical works in these and other languages.
