Course description

Take a leadership role on the issue of workplace health, safety and Workers' Compensation. You will explore the amount of accountability you have in this area, which depends on the size of your organization and management's assessment of inherent risks. This course helps you ensure that your organization's efforts are coordinated and effective.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to 

  • recognize the nature of workplace health, safety, and wellness.
  • define application of legislation or regulations related to health, safety, and workers compensation.
  • explain the legal implications of health and safety.
  • describe due diligence and strict liability requirements.
  • create a joint responsibility system to ensure employee safety.
  • develop an effective program for hazard recognition and control.
  • describe the principles of workplace inspections.
  • discuss the principles of an effective accident/incident investigation.
  • explain the importance of the health and safety management system in relation to the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders.
