Course description

Discover how to design student assignments and investigate strategies to assess student performance. You will learn to link learning outcomes with assessment, while applying Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATS). You will create a rubric to assess project learning outcomes.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain how learning assessments and learning evaluations are best employed in instructional design
  • Explain how summative and formative learning assessments are best employed in instructional design
  • Design strong Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATS) for formative assessments of learning
  • Design a strong summative learning assessment tool that will also evaluate learning
  • Design an effective grading criteria rubric for evaluating learning
