Course description

Explore the characteristics of human development with a focus on childhood to adolescence. You will examine the psychology of a developing child from varying perspectives and discover its implications in the learning environment of a classroom.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • explain the basic terminology of educational psychology outline the basic concepts involved in learning
  • identify the differences and relationship between theories of education and practical experience
  • identify the ways students learn and how these techniques can be applied in teaching practice and classroom assistance
  • categorize the factors of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual (ethical) development and how they play into the educative process
  • identify the factors involved in the socialization process and an individual's "freedom" express how human development factors relate to classroom management
