Course description

Build your understanding of security models, secure design principles and the ability to assess a variety of systems for vulnerabilities. You will learn these fundamental concepts, use cryptography and explore options for selecting controls and countermeasures.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Describe the various information security engineering models 
  • Distinguish between security evaluation models 
  • Assess system architecture vulnerabilities and evaluate existing systems for vulnerabilities 
  • Describe historical concepts in information cryptography and explain the fundamentals, practices, and application of cryptography 
  • Explain physical security engineering principles in practical day-to-day work activities 
  • Apply learned security engineering principles in practical day-to-day work activities 
  • Describe best practices in information security engineering, and communicate effectively using relevant cyber security terminology 

Notes

Students must enrol in all three courses in the Advanced Cyber Security program at the same time.
