Course description

Explore the basics of floral design, including the care and handling of fresh flowers. You will learn the fundamental concepts of floral design, gaining foundational knowledge of the floral industry.

Learner outcomes

 Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to
  • identify and gain an understanding of the tools for the floral industry.
  • identify and practice care and handling techniques for fresh cut flowers.
  • identify basic flowers.
  • practice working with fresh cut flowers to develop a basic design foundation. 
  • identify the characteristics of cut flowers: line, mass, form, and filler.
  • construct a unique floral piece each class and gain an understanding of mechanics and techniques involved in floral design.
