Course description

Learn how to promote your organization and its products or services by developing, launching and monitoring paid advertising on social media networks, including LinkedIn, Snapchat and Reddit. Gain an understanding of planning and budgeting, accessing advertising exchanges, designing and writing campaigns and analyzing your marketing return on investment. You are encouraged to apply course concepts to your own or your organization's social media accounts.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:  

  • Recognize common digital sales behaviors from initial exposure to purchase, and describe how organic content, boosted content and paid advertising on social media work together for advertising, retargeting and remarketing. 
  • Plan a social media advertising campaign; set campaign goals and measurable objectives, identify target audiences; determine budget; identify the right social media channel(s) to meet goals. 
  • Create images, video and text for advertisements 
  • Publish, monitor and modify active social media advertising campaigns 
  • Integrate social media advertising into a larger marketing campaign. 
  • Identify important key performance indicators, metrics and analytics to measure the success of a social media advertising campaign.

•   This is an online, asynchronous course; it is not an independent study course. There are set due dates for graded and non-graded assessments and students are required to actively participate throughout the course via discussion and other activities.
