Course description

Gain an understanding of the expertise required to produce an event, including sound, lighting, special effects, audiovisual and more. You will differentiate between an event timeline, a production schedule and production scripts. Learn industry terminology and how to assess technical requirements in order to have meaningful negotiations, discussions and event execution with vendors.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate the ability to research new event industry formats, relevant concepts and event production techniques 
  • differentiate between a critical path, function sheet and production schedules 
  • demonstrate an understanding of the online techniques and relevant mobile applications used in event production 
  • understand and assess technical requirements and needs when event planning 
  • integrate the timing and requirements for sound, lighting, special effects, audio visual, etc.

XEVT 10011 - Introduction to Event Planning with a minimum grade of C
AND XEVT 20001 - Resource Management for Event Planning with a minimum grade of C
AND XEVT 20002 - Event Logistics with a minimum grade of C
AND XEVT 20003 - Event Risk Management with a minimum grade of C
AND XEVT 20004 - Event Marketing with a minimum grade of C
