Course description

Explore how emotional intelligence impacts success and happiness at home and work, and helps us motivate ourselves, manage stress, embrace change, strengthen relationships and resolve conflict. Become aware of, identify, analyze and manage individual and group emotions. Through education and practice, improve your EQ (EI) skills.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • recognize the benefits of demonstrating emotional intelligence in the workplace
  • identify emotional intelligence theories and concepts
  • recognize areas of strength and development in emotional intelligence
  • apply and develop the four major competencies in emotional intelligence, including emotional self-awareness, emotional self management and relationship management
  • use and develop practical strategies to increase your emotional intelligence at work
  • develop a learning plan to grow your emotional intelligence

Emotional Intelligence 2.0. Bradberry and Greaves (2009) comes with an online link and password to complete an online EQ self appraisal. Only NEW textbooks provide access to the online assessment. You must complete, print and bring your appraisal to the first day of class.
