Course description

Gain the tools necessary to develop your own high-performance team. Explore topics such as the stages of team development, common pitfalls to avoid in developing teams, conflict resolution, creating the player attitude and mapping team capabilities.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Differentiate between group behaviours and team behaviours  
  • Understand the unique characteristics and challenges of the various types of groups and teams found in today's workplace  
  • Describe the benefits of high performance teams  
  • Explain the foundational principles of high performance teams and create a roadmap for building their own high performance team  
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of leaders and team members in building a high performance team  
  • Describe the stages of team development including the key characteristics of each stage and the actions required to lead the team through all stages  
  • Identify the 5 dysfunctions of a team and how to avoid or overcome them  
  • Practice team problem solving and decision making  
  • Use the tools provided to immediately enhance the effectiveness of their current team
